1) Don’t make a hash of things. Yes, everyone loves a hashtag, but don’t overdo it. Joining in a debate or meme like #thatsdisturbing is good. Hashtagging every Tweet is bad.

2) Strong, silent types are boring. Ok, we don’t need to know the minutae of your life, but you need to say something! Get involved and talk to people, or else what’s the point?

3) It’s not all about you. Twitter’s a social network. So get networking. Throw a few @ replies here and there, retweet some stuff now and again. People will repay the favour.
